Today's Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes Railroad dates back to 1970, when Wesley Spear bought a tract of land that contained a 3/4 mile stretch of the original right of way of the Phillips and Rangeley RR. Later, that stretch became a part of the SR&RL RR.
We captured the railroad while operating ex-Monson RR Forney number 3 on weekend excursions during the 2007 season.
You will see passenger and freight operationss, a gandy dancer gang and a track inspection crew using a rebuilt "Ford" Fairmont motor car. What this railroad lacks in miles, it makes up for in character.
Filmed in HDTV wide screen, on standard DVD-R format, 27 minutes, color.
